Amazon S3 European Hosting For S3Dashboard Users

Amazon allowed access to european servers to their S3 hosting network and we have now integrated that option straight into the s3Dashboard application

This means if your website is hosted in Europe and you want to use Amazons European Data Centre, to reduce latency,  it is  only a click away

This may be of particular interestfor video hosting.

S3Dashboard takes shape

The S3Dashboard came a little closer to perfection today, when we updated the Edit FLV Player pages

We have already updated and modernised the ‘behind the scenes’ look and feel of S3Dashboard

S3Dashboard navigation buttonsNot just trying to be reflective of modern web2.0 sites.. but also trying to make the flow of work easier and clearer
Here’s the new look buttons to navigate around th eS3Dashboard.
We think they are much easier to use and help clarify exactly where you are navigating to

And here’s the new look FLV add/edit screen - more colourful, easier on the eye and easier to use.

Introducing the new look FLV add/edit screen S3 dashboardWorking with colours to help users idfentify the 5 main sections and so making the dashboard even easier to use.

This is because it helps break up the process into ‘bite sized’ pieces.

This new format will be gettin grolled into the rest of the add/edit players…

New Look and Features for S3 Dashboard

This morning I have applied an update to the S3 Dashboard, which features a new, sleek look for contents of your Amazon S3 buckets, and the ability to browse within sub-folders in buckets.

We have also changed the location of the player management features to be within the object summary page itself, which helped to compress the size of the bucket summary pages and made it easier navigate to your files.

Amazon Announce Service Level Agreement for Amazon S3

As of October 1st 2007, Amazon have announced a Service Level Agreement, for users of their Simple Storage Solution web service.

This means that if their level of service falls below a pre-defined level, you will receive a service credit on your S3 account for a percentage of your bill.

The percentage levels credited to your Amazon S3 account are as follows:

Amazon S3 SLA

You can read more here.

Note: This only applies if your monthly billing from Amazon S3 is greater the $1.

Access Control on the S3 Dashboard

Yesterday we updated the S3 Dashboard to include management of the Access Control policy of both buckets and objects. The initial update proved to be relatively unstable compared to the previous version of the system, but after some re-programming, it now seems to work much better.

As always, if you’re using the system and come across any errors, please lets us know so we can address them as soon as possible.

You can contact us here.

Access Control Coming to the Dashboard Soon

The Dashboard has now been in Beta Test mode for a couple of weeks, and first level feedback has been very promising.

Based on some comments we’ve made some small changes to the system which are now in place on the site.

While the Dashboard has been in Beta Test mode, we’ve also been making significant strides in implementing ACL control for buckets and objects, to give you complete control over all aspects of your Amazon S3 account. While not quite ready yet, they should hopefully applied to the site by the end of the week, so look out for them.

S3 Dashboard Launched for Beta Testers

After a couple of weeks of hard work, and few last minute panics, we finally opened the doors of the S3 Dashboard to Beta testers.

While it’s not a totally finished application, the main infrastructure and functionality is in place and working, and over the next couple of weeks, while the Beta testers are testing each part of the system, we’ll be looking to add more and improve existing features, tutorials and overall design.

We’re still looking for more Beta testers, so if you use Amazon S3 to host your media files, and want a quick and simple way to embed the files into your web site, click here to sign up for a Beta test account at S3 Dashboard.

The first 10 Beta testers will receive a years free S3 Dashboard Premier account allowing unrestricted access to all of the sites functionality, so act quickly to get your account today (the first 3 places have already gone).
